Alef Centre is the first of its kind in UAE and the gulf area that is specialized in providing diagnosis and intervention services for individuals with Irlen syndrome.

The center also aims at helping individuals who are in need for learning support in specific skills areas, and those who have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. Our services also extend to support children with attention deficit/ hyper activity disorder (ADHD), down syndrome, social and behavioral difficulties and high functioning autism with interventions that help reduce their everyday challenges. In addition, we provide graphology and life coaching consultation and sessions.

Mrs. Mona Kazim is a pioneer in the special education field. She has been working in the educational field for 28 years. She started her career in education as a teacher, and then became the principal of the school. She successfully ran the school for 13 years. Mrs. Mona became the first bilingual Emirati woman specialized in the field of special education since she earned her master’s degree from the British University in Dubai in 2007. Throughout her career, Mrs. Mona had received up to date professional training around the world. She has attended many trainings & workshops in USA, Britain, Italy, Holland, Portugal, Bahrain and UAE. She is currently the Director, Learning Support & Special Needs Specialist, Irlen Syndrome Diagnostician & Trainer in the UAE and the founder of Alef Centre the first Irlen Centre in GCC.
Mrs. Mona’s philosophy in education is based on interactive learning. She has been providing hands on training and workshops for professionals, in addition to the highly interactive support sessions for students. She believes that every child can learn no matter the difficulties he/ she might be suffering from. Although she is a grandmother, Mrs. Mona never quit supporting children from different ages and backgrounds. She has also been providing practical consultation sessions and counseling for parents.
Mrs. Mona has so many talents. She enjoys knitting, lacing, drawing and sports. She also loves volunteering in social support campaigns and helping needy people around the world.

Educational Consultant

A dedicated educator and a competent educational consultant with over 20 years of experience. Driven by the philosophy that education is the door to improve societies and human wellbeing, enthusiastically promoting inclusion strategies in schools to meet the rights for every child to learn. A life-long reflective learner who passionately provides hands on training for educators and students across all disciplines.

Noha started her career as a regular education teacher. She got trained by a number of highly qualified trainers and attended over 30 professional development sessions with local and international training bodies to enhance her professional skills as an educator. She earned a number of certificates of excellence and awards.

In 2011, Noha obtained her master’s degree in special and inclusive education from the Institute of Education, University College London. Since then, she became specialized in facilitating inclusion of students with special educational needs in mainstream education. She served as a SENCO and the Head of Special Education Department in one of the reputable international schools in Egypt for 10 years.

Currently, Noha is a faculty member at the Graduate School of Education, American University in Cairo, where she delivers long and short term post graduate courses for the Professional Educator Diploma. She also works in accrediting international schools in the Middle East with the AdvancEd Global Organization.

Simultaneously, she is a free-lancer teacher trainer. She has been presenting interactive and hands on workshops for teachers in international schools, colleges and educational centers in Cairo, London, KSA and UAE. She also presented research papers and workshops in a number of international conferences such as the Institute of education international conference, the annual AdvancEd global conferences, and the annual LRC and Advanced Society conferences.

Noha is also a free-lancer life coach, specialized in coaching children and teens. She has provided personal coaching as well as group coaching sessions for a number of NGOs and profitable organizations in Cairo. She launched and headed the Quareer Club that focused on character building and improving the personality traits of teens.

Noha joined Alef Centre since May 2017 as an Educational Consultant, providing consultancy and training services for schools, teachers and parents. She also administers special education assessments, designs support programs for students with learning difficulties, and delivers coaching sessions for children aged 6-17.

Speech Therapist

Having over 14 years’ experience in the speech therapy profession and holding
Bachelor degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Faculty of Medical
Rehabilitation at The University of Jordan.
Ms. Suha has an extensive experience as Bilingual Speech Therapist and
Audiologist, She has practiced speech therapy in a number of settings to
include: schools, nurseries and clinics where she has worked extensively with
toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged children, and adults. She specializes in the
evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of communication disorders to
include:
receptive/expressive language disorders
articulation disorders
stuttering
autism spectrum disorders
Down syndrome
CP
social skills
aural rehabilitation ( Hearing loss) and other developmental delays. She works
closely with individuals and their families to facilitate effective communication
skills and to generalize speech therapy goals in different sittings.

Ms. Suha has worked on several projects related to her profession such as
Inclusion Programs in Mainstream Schools in UAE

She is holding valid practicing permits from Jordan and from DHA-UAE.
Moreover, she is holding The It Takes Two to Talk — The Hanen Program
certificate to deal with parents of children with language delay. Moreover, she
is Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule 2 (ADOS-2) practioner, LSVT LOUD
certified ( parkinson patients)
